Comet P/2010 JC81 (WISE) is an object with a medium-length orbit that is highly inclined to the ecliptic plane of the solar system. NASA JPL has not classified WISE as potentially hazardous because its orbit does not bring it close to Earth.
WISE orbits the sun every 8,470 days (23.19 years), coming as close as 1.81 AU and reaching as far as 14.46 AU from the sun. Its orbit is highly elliptical.
WISE's orbit is 0.83 AU from Earth's orbit at its closest point. This means that there is a very wide berth between this asteroid and Earth at all times.
Orbital simulations conducted by NASA JPL's CNEOS do not show any close approaches to Earth.
WISE's orbit is determined by observations dating back to May 10, 2010. It was last officially observed on June 12, 2013. The IAU Minor Planet Center records 619 observations used to determine its orbit.
