Comet P/2005 T3 (Read) is an object whose orbit is approximately between Jupiter and Neptune. NASA JPL has not classified Read as potentially hazardous because its orbit does not bring it close to Earth.
Read orbits the sun every 7,520 days (20.59 years), coming as close as 6.20 AU and reaching as far as 8.82 AU from the sun.
Read's orbit is 5.21 AU from Earth's orbit at its closest point. This means that there is an extremely wide berth between this asteroid and Earth at all times.
The orbit of Read brings it close to Jupiter's orbit.
Orbital simulations conducted by NASA JPL's CNEOS do not show any close approaches to Earth.
Read's orbit is determined by observations dating back to Sept. 30, 2005. It was last officially observed on Nov. 26, 2005. The IAU Minor Planet Center records 42 observations used to determine its orbit.
