Hannieschaft is a mid-sized asteroid with an orbit that crosses the orbit of Mars. NASA JPL has not classified Hannieschaft as potentially hazardous because its orbit does not bring it close to Earth.

Hannieschaft orbits the sun every 973 days (2.66 years), coming as close as 1.64 AU and reaching as far as 2.20 AU from the sun. Based on its brightness and the way it reflects light, Hannieschaft is probably between 1.215 to 2.717 kilometers in diameter, making it larger than 99% of asteroids, very roughly comparable in size to Mount Everest.

Hannieschaft's orbit is determined by observations dating back to Sept. 15, 1972. It was last officially observed on March 31, 2021. The IAU Minor Planet Center records 876 observations used to determine its orbit.

Accessibility and Exploration

This asteroid is not considered a viable target for human exploration by the NHATS study.
